Rivers Traditional Medicine Board Moves to Regulate Practice, Calls for Dedicated Hospital

The Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Board under the Rivers State Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public awareness and understanding of traditional medicine in the state.

The State Chairman of the Board, Dr. Johnson Elechi, stated this during a media briefing at the Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Dr. Elechi said the Board is responsible for regulating, monitoring and standardizing the practice of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Rivers State, while educating practitioners and the public on its safe application.

He called on the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the bill seeking to provide legal backing for the practice and urged the Rivers State Government to establish a Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine hospital.
