TUC called authorities of the University of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the Inspector General of Police and the Minister for Education to identify and prosecute those who killed the innocent protesting students.Rivers State chapter of TUC made the demand in a statement released by its Chairman, CHIKA ONUEGBU, which was obtained by our correspondent.According to the statement; Rivers TUC also called for the resignation of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.TUC is of the view that if the Vice Chancellor cannot handle a student protest, then he should resign immediately,The Congress stressed that silence under the circumstances cannot be considered golden but an active collaboration with the murderers of students.The Rivers TUC said it was worried that if unarmed protesting students could be killed in cold blood then there was no guarantee that protesting workers or citizens will not be killed also.TUC appealed to all parents of UNIPORT students, civil society organisations and people of good conscience to rise up against the unwarranted and cold blooded killing of students.
