Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE, has come under severe criticism over his advise to the people of Ogoni in Rivers South East Senatorial District on candidates to vote in the forthcoming re-run elections.Governor WIKE was in the area over the weekend for the 50th birthday celebration of former senator, LEE MAEBA, during which he urged Ogoni people not to vote for MAGNUS ABE of the APC who is seeking to return to the Senate. In his reaction; Senator MAGNUS ABE wondered why his election is more important to Governor WIKE than the elections in his own base in Obio-Akpor.In more reactions, one of Ogoni political stakeholders, MARVIN YOBANA said to take the advise of the governor would mean to sustain the marginalization of Ogoni people.YOBANA warned governor WIKE to be mindful of utterances capable of causing crisis in the state, stressing that Ogoni people should be allowed to make their choice in any election. Also speaking, an environmental rights activist, CELESTINE AKPOBARI urged the Ogonis to resist any attempt by politicians to manipulate the re-run elections in the area.Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that APC stakeholders drawn from the four local government areas covering the senatorial district were present at the meeting in Khana.
