INEC extends voter registration indefinitely

INEC National Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, FESTUS OKOYE, made the announcement in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the CVR will continue nationwide, adding that all the Resident Electoral Commissioners and electoral officers have been directed to continue with the exercise pending further directives from the commission.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had granted an order of interim injunction stopping INEC from ending voter registration on June 30, 2022.

Meanwhile, the registration process for voters’ card is still very sluggish.

This is according to the observation of some voters’ card registrants who spoke with Today FM at the Obio-Akpor office of the Independent National Electoral Commission at Eligbolu.

The registrants complained that the machines used for the registration exercise appear to be very slow, while complaining that the attitude of the INEC officials is very poor.

Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe observed that the crowd at the INEC office has however reduced.
