Women in Rivers State Urge President Tinubu to Nullify State of Emergency

Women in Rivers State have intensified their call on President Bola Tinubu to lift the State of Emergency currently imposed on the region. The appeal was made during a regular interfaith prayer gathering held in Port Harcourt under the auspices of “Rivers Women Unite for Sim.”

The prayer event featured prominent leaders from the group, including Gloria Morgan and Gloria Okocha, who emphasized that reinstating the state’s governor would not only promote further progress but also foster harmony among the diverse communities within Rivers State. “The governor’s return is essential for moving forward and ensuring that peace prevails in our state,” Okocha stated during the gathering.

Among the attendees, Katty Jima and Dr. Vivian Elenwo praised the youth for their commendable response to the suspended governor’s call for lawfulness and peace during this tumultuous period. “Their adherence to peace is crucial as we navigate these challenges. It reflects the commitment of the younger generation to the betterment of our state,” Jima remarked.

The theme of the prayer event, “Pray Until Something Happens – For the Love of Rivers State,” resonated strongly among participants, as they prayed for a swift resolution to the current political crisis and a return to stable governance.

As the women rallied for their message to reach the President, the atmosphere remained hopeful that their collective voice would influence the ongoing discussions regarding the future political landscape in Rivers State.
