The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports alleging that a faction of the party has collapsed into another political coalition in the state, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, said there is no faction within the ADC, stressing that the party remains united under its constitution and the leadership of its National Executive Committee headed by Senator David Mark. He stated that individuals identified in the reports as ADC leaders or representatives are neither recognized officials nor authorized spokespersons of the party and therefore lack the mandate to speak or act on its behalf. According to him, any declaration, endorsement or political alliance announced by such individuals is purely personal and cannot be attributed to the ADC.
The party further described references to a supposed “Kachukwu faction” within the ADC as baseless, challenging anyone to identify any official or recognized stakeholder of the party by that name. It urged media organizations to verify information through the party’s recognized state and national leadership before publication and called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to investigate individuals allegedly impersonating ADC officials. The party reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its integrity and assured members and supporters that it remains united and focused on providing credible leadership in Rivers State.
