This information was released after sixteen people were killed in a series of suicide bomb attacks on the university campus on Saturday, in the course of the Sallah celebration.
The project is being financed by the Borno State Governor, KASHIM SHETTIMA, while the Federal Government is expected to provide funding for a perimeter barrier around the university.
Reports say the trenches are designed to make it impossible for the militants to drive into the university as well as making it harder for them to access the campus on foot.
