U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has said the United States will be paying close attention to Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of ensuring that Nigerians are able to freely choose their leaders.
Moore made the remark following a meeting between representatives of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his office in Washington, where discussions focused on election integrity, security challenges, and the need to protect Nigerians’ right to free and fair elections.
According to a statement released after the meeting, both sides emphasized that credible elections are essential to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, with Moore indicating that the U.S. would be closely monitoring developments ahead of the 2027 polls.
