The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has threatened to order the arrest of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, IBRAHIM LAMORDE.

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has threatened to order the arrest of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, IBRAHIM LAMORDE. The immediate-past EFCC Chairman was scheduled to appear before the committee in August, but he has so far failed to respond to the invitation of the Senators, prompting a final warning. Our correspondent reports that LAMORDE was however represented by rights lawyer, FESTUS KEYAMO, at the hearing of a petition of alleged diversion of recovered corruption proceeds. KEYAMO informed the Senators that his client was absent due to health-related issues, and has travelled overseas for medical checkup. He also argued that the Senate Ethics committee lacks the right to investigate LAMORDE, whom he said is now a private citizen. The Chairman of the Committee, Senator SAMUEL ANYANWU, insisted that LAMORDE must appear before the committee on 24th of November.
