Nigerian Army Reshuffles Senior Officers, Appoints New GOC 6 Division

The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle of its senior officers, affecting key operational, command, training and staff appointments across the country.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the redeployment, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, is aimed at strengthening national security and improving operational effectiveness.

The reshuffle affects field commanders, school commandants and principal staff officers at the Army Headquarters as part of efforts to enhance the Army’s capacity to tackle emerging security challenges.

As part of the changes, Major General EI Okoro has been appointed the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, succeeding Major General EE Emeka.
