The Federal Government is looking at ways to bring relief to internally displaced persons as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East of Nigeria. The strategies being considered are geared towards rehabilitation and restoration of affected persons.
To this end, the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria is calling for a stakeholders’ forum next week for efficient coordination and to create synergy of purpose in the humanitarian intervention efforts for the North-East. The Two-Day Engagement Forum with local and international stakeholders in Maiduguri, Borno State will be executed on the theme “Coordination, Communication and Cooperation.”.
The information was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in the Office of the Vice President, LAOLU AKANDE.
He said the forum is expected to establish a framework for coordination by bringing key stakeholders together to produce a blueprint for best practices and ensure articulated response to emergencies and humanitarian challenges in the three most affected states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe.
