MOSOP: Ogoni Dialogue Focused on Development, Not Just Oil Resumption

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has said the ongoing Ogoni dialogue extends beyond the issue of oil production resumption, stressing that it is primarily focused on the overall development of Ogoniland.

Speaking at the MOSOP National Congress held at the Peace and Freedom Centre in Bori, MOSOP President, Fegalo Nsuke, said the dialogue was aimed at securing a better future for the Ogoni people.

The congress, themed “The Ogoni Dialogue: Prospects for Our Collective Future,” brought together stakeholders to discuss the region’s development and the ongoing engagement with the Federal Government.

Nsuke urged Ogoni people to remain calm, peaceful and vigilant, saying the pursuit of sustainable development in Ogoniland reflects the aspirations of their forefathers.

He added that the congress resolved to call on the government to remain committed to implementing all agreements reached during the ongoing dialogue process, describing such commitment as essential to achieving lasting peace and development in the area.
