The Director General of the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria, NAPOLEOM KOKO says the fall of international crude oil prices has led countries to shift attention to other areas to grow their economies. NAPOLEOM KOKO is of the view that tourism is the next destination for economic drive, which governments must begin to explore.
KOKO who was speaking at an event in Port Harcourt to mark World Tourism Day, called for financial assistance for the sector, including a special intervention fund to develop tourism. Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, ATOSEMI TEETITO called on stakeholders in the tourism sector to combine efforts in creating enabling environment for tourism businesses to prosper. Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, KENNETH KOBANI, promised to make the state a tourist attraction.
