The APC candidate for the Rivers South East Senatorial District, MAGNUS ABE has expressed concern that the National and State Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja is frustrating his efforts to appeal the ruling that dismissed his petition.
The former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream is challenging the victory of Senator OLAKA WOGU of the PDP, who had his election affirmed by the tribunal. However; MAGNUS ABE has said the non-release of the judgment and record of proceedings by the Tribunal sitting in Abuja is delaying the process of appealing against the judgment. Senator ABE wandered why the tribunal is yet to release the relevant documents to his lawyers more than six days after judgment was delivered against him over the senatorial election on the 28th of March. He lamented that he had only twenty-one days to file an appeal against the judgment of the tribunal, while the tribunal has already taken six days for no reason whatsoever.
Senator ABE appealed to authorities in the judiciary to intervene to ensure that the desire of the All Progressives Congress for justice in Rivers State is not frustrated.
