The All Progressives Congress, APC has cancelled the primary election in Bayelsa state that was purportedly won by former Governor, TIMIPRIYE SILVA. National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, told the media in Abuja that the party’s primary for the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa has been rescheduled. Chief Oyegun said that the primaries earlier scheduled for Tuesday was cancelled due to security challenges. He however added that leadership of the party would meet to choose a new date for the exercise. You will recall that the attempt by the APC to conduct the primaries at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, was frustrated by fracas involving supporters of most of the aspirants.
The situation led to the walk-out of 14 aspirants, including Timi Alaibe, from the venue after Chairman of the Primaries Committee, Adams Oshiomhole, was reportedly whisked out of the place to avoid being attacked.
