RUST- Gov Wike yet to assent to Change of Name bill.

In passing the Amendment Bill; the State Legislature approved a change of name of the state-owned tertiary institution, which is now to be known simply as Rivers State University

The Speaker of the House, IKUINYI-OWAJI IBANI said the name-change was based on a directive by the National University Commission for universities to concentrate on their core mandates.

He said the State Legislature decided to take the step to avoid losing accreditation of courses offered by the state university due to the NUC directive.
