Despite beating the Sudanese outfit 3-0 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League first round tie in Port Harcourt, Eguma’s men were hammered 4-0 by Al Merreikh before over 45, 000 hostile fans in Omdurman.
In a telephone chat with Sports Attack, Eguma stated that the behavior of the Al Merreikh fans made it impossible for his team to express themselves, even as he accused the referee of bias.
As a result of their ouster from the Champions League, Rivers United dropped down to the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup and Eguma is hoping that the experience garnered from Sudan will be useful for the team going forward.
