The sponsor of the bill and APC Senator representing Kogi West, Senator DINO MELAYE, said the objective is to provide protection for people under threat of being inflicted with tribal marks.
Setting the stage for debate on the Anti-Tribal mark Bill, Senator MELAYE highlighted the agony and mockery usually endured by people bearing tribal marks.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the bill enjoyed unanimous support by the senators, and the Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU, commended Senator MELAYE for initiating the legislation.
The Anti-Tribal Mark Bill eventually passed second reading in the Senate and referred to the Senate Committee on Human Rights and Legal Matters for further legislative action.
