Rivers Traditional Rulers Set Up Committee to Mediate Wike-Fubara Political Rift

The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers has inaugurated a nine-member committee to mediate the ongoing political crisis between former Governor Nyesom Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Council Chairman, Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo, Eze Oha Apara IV of Apara Kingdom, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

Worlu-Wodo explained that the committee’s mandate is to engage key stakeholders and propose sustainable solutions aimed at restoring peace and stability in the state.

The committee is chaired by His Majesty (Dr.) Suanu T. Y. Baridam, with His Majesty Eze Barr Nwachukwu Nnam Obi serving as co-chairman. The council stressed that the mediation effort seeks to foster dialogue and reconciliation, addressing the tensions that have disrupted the state’s political landscape in recent months.

The move is seen as a significant step by traditional institutions to intervene in political disputes and promote harmony in Rivers State.
