Rivers YPP Rejects Claims of Backing Tinubu, Distances Itself from Fake Spokesperson

The Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Rivers State has denied being part of any political parties supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu under the so-called Rainbow Coalition led by the FCT Minister aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.

In a statement, Rivers State YPP Chairman, Dr. Danagogo Wenike-Briggs, described the claims as “laughable, baseless, and completely unfounded.” He accused the FCT Minister of making undemocratic comments intended to undermine the rule of law.

Dr. Wenike-Briggs also distanced the party from Omangima Harry, who has been presenting himself as the YPP spokesperson in the coalition. He clarified that Harry was suspended from the party on March 13, 2023, and therefore has no authority to represent YPP in any capacity or forum.

On the ongoing political situation in the state, Dr. Wenike-Briggs stated that the YPP strongly opposes the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Ordu, calling for restraint, dialogue, and respect for democratic processes.

The statement underscores YPP’s intention to remain independent in the state’s political landscape while rejecting attempts to misrepresent its position.
