The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP NNAMDI OMONI said the slain policemen were attached to the Police Mobile Force stationed at Omerelu in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
DSP NNAMDI OMONI said the criminals made away with the rifles of the slain policemen.
He said a Crack Team that was mobilized in response to the incident has smashed a kidnapping syndicate and rescued five hostages from their hideout at a forest in Ubima.
The rescued kidnap victims were identified as
DAMIETE CLINTON AMACHREE, WELDLY UDO-ABASI, Deacon SEBASTIAN AMENKHIENAN, Reverend OGAGARUE and IBE ONYEBUCHI.
The Police spokesman said other items recovered during the operation include two AK 47 riffles and eighty rounds of live ammunition.
The statement also revealed that the Operatives of the Command’s Crack Team had on Monday this week arrested some kidnappers and rescued one OKA EMMANUEL along Elele-Owerri Road.
