The Rivers State Police Command has paraded 18 suspects arrested during various operations across the state between June and August 2026.
The command also recovered 47 firearms, 102 rounds of live ammunition, 11 cutlasses and 12 stolen vehicles in the course of the operations.
Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, said the achievements were recorded through intelligence-led and proactive policing aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.
Adepoju also disclosed that three suspected members of a gang that attacked police officers during a stop-and-search operation in Aluu on June 29, 2026, had been arrested by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU-AKU.
The suspects were identified as Maduabuchi Emeka, alleged gang leader; Chinedu Owhor, popularly known as Doctor; and Kamachi Joe, alleged armourer.
The Commissioner assured residents that the command would remain vigilant and proactive in its efforts to combat crime across the state.
He said the police were working closely with the military, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other stakeholders to strengthen security.
Adepoju commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for his leadership and support, while urging residents to continue providing credible information to the police.
According to him, information supplied by members of the public has contributed significantly to the command’s recent operational successes.
