The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered multiple firearms and live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation.
In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Grace Iringe-Koko, said operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested the suspect, identified as Austine Emenike, popularly known as “Oyibo,” from Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspect include one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns and five live cartridges.
The police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is linked to a wider criminal network, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and uncover the full extent of their activities.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to denying criminals safe haven in Rivers State. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to support security operations.
