The Rivers State government says it has saved ₦5 billion from its August salary bill following a comprehensive staff verification exercise.
Sole Administrator of the state, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, announced this during the grand finale of the 2025 Civil Service Week Celebration in Port Harcourt.
He explained that the exercise exposed and removed non-existent staff and impostors from the government payroll.
Ete-Ibas also unveiled a vision for a revitalized civil service, highlighting a series of reforms already underway.
The event featured the launch of the new Rivers State Civil Service Handbook and the inaugural edition of The Bureaucrat magazine by the Acting Head of Service, Inyingi Brown.
