Rivers Commercial drivers lament multiple taxation

Chairman of the Oyigbo Drivers Welfare Club of Nigeria, Christopher Ezeani, who made this known in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth, decried how twelve illegal levies are extorted from his members daily.

Christopher also decried  the effect of multiple taxation on their standard of living, adding that they often pay to avoid being harassed.

He called on security agencies and the Rivers State Ministry of Transport to come to their aid

Efforts to get the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service to respond to the claims were futile at the time of filing this report.

Recall that, in 2019,the Board, under the chairmanship of Adaoge Norteh, rolled out a unified ticketing, with the aim of reducing multiple taxation and shoring up the revenue base of the state.
