The Rivers State Civil Society Organization has said there is nothing wrong with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to sack commissioners who were not screened and confirmed by the Martins Amaehwule–led State House of Assembly.
Chairman of the organization, Enefa Georgewill, stated this in an interview with our reporter, Emelda Ifeme. He explained that their support for the governor’s action is based on the assumption that it was carried out in line with the recent Supreme Court ruling, and not as an attempt to please the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Georgewill reminded Governor Fubara that his mandate is to serve the people of Rivers State, who, according to him, will ultimately hold him accountable for his decisions and actions, not any individual or political interest.
The civil society leader further cautioned that too much time has already been lost under what he described as an “emergency rule,” and urged Governor Fubara to swiftly move beyond rhetoric to deliver visible projects that will address the needs of Rivers people.
