The Rivers State House of Assembly has urged all parties involved in the ownership dispute over Rumuosi Victory Estate to maintain peace and refrain from taking further action pending the conclusion of the Assembly’s investigation.
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Enemi George, gave the directive during a meeting with landlords of the estate and other stakeholders, including the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Gift Worlu.
George also advised the local government chairman to provide adequate security around the disputed property to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
One of the respondents in the matter, Colonel Ogwumerum-Eke, was absent from the meeting.
In a letter written through his counsel, Godwin Dike, the respondent explained that he was unable to attend because he was appearing before another court in a related matter and requested that the hearing be adjourned.
