Governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Rivers State, Nature Dumale-Kieghe, has described the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) two-week extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as a step in the right direction.
Speaking in an interview with Today FM, Dumale-Kieghe said the extension would provide more Nigerians, particularly first-time voters, the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 general elections.
The PRP governorship candidate attributed the internal crises affecting opposition political parties to the activities of the ruling party, alleging that it had lost direction.
He also accused the ruling party of using poverty as a political tool by distributing rice and other relief materials as elections draw closer, insisting that the PRP is better positioned to address the needs of Nigerians.
Dumale-Kieghe, who is also the Coordinator of the Ogoni Eco-Citizens Initiative, expressed confidence that INEC would conduct credible elections in 2027, noting that the electoral body is under both local and international scrutiny and would be keen to protect its credibility.
He maintained that Nigerians are determined to use their votes in the 2027 elections to tackle poverty, insecurity and hunger, expressing optimism that the electorate is ready for political change.
