President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy, describing calls for its reversal by one of his political opponents as a demonstration of “serious ignorance” about governance and the economy.
Tinubu stated this when he received Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa. The President did not disclose the identity of the opponent he was referring to.
He said 27 state governments were unable to meet their obligations to workers before he assumed office in 2023 and had to depend on the Federal Government for support. Tinubu maintained that his administration’s policies were aimed at strengthening the economy and improving the capacity of governments to meet their responsibilities.
