Chief MADUEKWE, who was also the immediate-past Nigerian Ambassador to Canada, died at the age seventy-one, after falling suddenly ill on his return from a recent overseas trip.
The President of the Port Harcourt Branch of the Asaga Development Union, Elder NGAM KALU ODIBA gave this indication in an interview with our correspondent.
Elder ODIBA said Chief MADUEKWE would be remembered for various landmark achievements both at home and all the places he served.
Also speaking; the National President of Asaga Development Union, Chief OMAKA ONUGU expressed shock at the death of Chief OJO MADUEKWE.
Late Chief OJO MADUEKWE had at one time served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under late former president UMARU YAR’ADUA.
He was appointed Minister of Culture and Tourism under former president OLUSEGUN OBASSANJO from 1999; as well as Minister of Transport under the same OBASANJO Administration in 2001.
Late Chief MADUEKWE served as National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party at some point; just as he was also a ruling Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.
Meanwhile; Doctor CHIDIA MADUEKWE, who is the younger brother of the deceased politician, has announced his withdrawal from social media in honour of the memory of late Chief OJO MADUEKWE.
