The lower chamber of the National Assembly had set up an ad hoc committee to address the demands of the health professionals.
Rising from a meeting of the Executive Committee of the union in Enugu; the leadership of the body announced the suspension of the strike for four weeks.
The Rivers State Chairman of the union, CHRIS MBATA, confirmed the development in an interview with our correspondent.
MBATA said during the period of the suspension, the union expects that the Federal Government would implement the agreement reached during their negotiations.
MBATA said the leadership of the union had useful deliberations with the Minister of Health, who promised to issue a circular directing the implementation of the agreements.
But he warned that members of the National Union of Allied Health Professionals would not hesitate to resume the strike if the government failed to honour its part of the agreement.
