Nigeria heading to Catastrophic food crisis – UNICEF warns.

The United Nations Children Fund – UNICEF – issued the warning following the declaration of famine in South Sudan.

The UN’s children’s agency warned that similar food crises are affecting three other countries, including Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen. 

UNICEF Deputy Director, JUSTIN FORSYTH said almost one point five million children are at risk of starvation. 

FORSYTH blamed the situation has been blamed on political failure and conflict, which he said could be averted if aid agencies were given safe access to those in need.
