The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 30-year-old Italy-based businessman over the alleged ingestion of 98 wraps of cocaine in Anambra State.
The suspect was reportedly arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu during the outward clearance of passengers for an Ethiopian Airlines flight, ET930.
According to the information, the man was travelling to Italy through Addis Ababa and France when NDLEA operatives intercepted him at the airport.
The agency is expected to conduct further investigations into the alleged drug trafficking attempt and determine the source and intended destination of the consignment.
The arrest adds to the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the trafficking of illicit drugs through Nigeria’s airports and other entry and exit points.
