MINIMUM WAGE: FG AND ORGANIZE LABOUR MEETING ENDS IN A DEADLOCK

This was as the meeting ended with no decision taken on a new wage structure.

A source said both parties agreed to wait for President MUHAMMADU BUHARI’s position on the issue.

The proposal from the Federal Government is ten per cent salary increase for workers on grade level 7 to 14 and five point five per cent for workers on grade level 15 to 17.

But labour is demanding twenty nine per cent for workers on grade level 7 to 14 and twenty four per cent for those on grade level 15 to 17.

The two sides therefore resolved at the last meeting that the position of labour and that of the representatives of the government be sent to President BUHARI.
