The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections by three days.
The electoral umpire announced on Sunday that the deadline, which was originally scheduled to end on Saturday, July 11, has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
INEC said the extension is intended to give political parties additional time to complete the nomination process and ensure compliance with the commission’s guidelines.
The commission urged all political parties to take advantage of the extension and submit the required documents before the new deadline, stressing that no further extension would be granted.
