Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, bringing an end to speculation over his preferred political platform and candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Rivers State, Fubara endorsed President Bola Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate and named Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate.
The governor urged his supporters to back all candidates presented by the coalition, describing it as a platform that unites members of different political parties across the state.
Fubara said the era of political conflict in Rivers State was over and called on political stakeholders to prioritise peace and development.
He also dismissed calls by some political actors to delay joining the coalition, insisting that he had already made up his mind.
The governor warned against actions capable of creating divisions in the state, maintaining that he would not associate himself with any agenda that could undermine the prevailing peace in Rivers State.
