The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has issued a warning over a viral video in which a prominent religious leader urges Nigerians to ignore medical advice regarding salt intake. In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, the Ministry emphasized the dangers of misinformation that could compromise public health.
While recognizing the influential role of religious leaders in society, the Ministry reiterated that excessive salt consumption is linked to serious health issues, including hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. It urged the public to rely on evidence-based medical guidance and avoid actions that may jeopardize their well-being.
