Governor NYEWON WIKE had on Monday constituted the thirteen-member committee, which has FRANK OWHOR as Chairman, with Prince PAUL WONODI as Deputy Chairman, and DAVID BRIGGS as Secretary.
But some members of the bereaved family protested against the decision of the State Government not to include the head of the family in the committee to plan the burial of the late literary icon.
However; after much consultations between the family and the state government, Elder VALENTINE AMADI who is eldest in the Elechi Amadi family, said a truce has been reached.
Elder VALENTINE who gave this indication in an interview with our correspondent, UCHENDU EJIOWHOR said it was against their custom to exclude the family from the planning of the state burial in honour of Captain AMADI.
He said members of the State Burial Planning Committee and other officials from the Rivers State Government had called for a meeting with the family where the issues in contention were resolved.
You will recall that former governor of Rivers State and incumbent Minister of Transport, ROTIMI AMACHI had also offered to bankroll the burial of late Captain ELECHI AMADI when he paid a condolence visit to the family residence at Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
