FG to Evacuate More Nigerians from South Africa on Tuesday

The Federal Government has announced that another batch of Nigerians will return from South Africa on Tuesday as part of its ongoing voluntary evacuation programme for citizens affected by rising anti-immigration tensions in the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said an Air Peace aircraft will depart Lagos for Johannesburg and return with about 270 Nigerians who have opted to come home. The exercise is being coordinated through the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria and other relevant agencies.

The government said the evacuation is part of efforts to protect Nigerians abroad amid renewed concerns over xenophobic attacks and anti-immigration protests in South Africa.
