Our correspondent LEVI ISU reports that all shops, banks and markets have been closed in solidarity with the people of ONELGA following the wave of violent attacks that led to the loss of life of many inhabitants in the build-up to the 205 general elections.
Addressing the rally, the President of Omoku Youth, KINGSLEY OGUMIKE who doubles as the leader of the ONELGA Youth Executive Session, called on the Christian community to use the power of prayer to subdue forces of evil in the land.
Beyond praying for divine intervention; OGUMIKE said it was a collective responsibility for everyone, including traditional rulers, parents, security agencies and corporate organizations operating in the area to maintain peace.
The ONELGA youth leader further appealed to Governor NYESOM WIKE to lift the ban on youth groups, stressing that the absence of such activities has negative impact on development in the Area.
One of the conveners of the peace restoration and reconciliation programme, BRIGHT ABALI told our correspondent that he was satisfied with the success of the event.
Our correspondent however reports that the programme was boycotted by notable politicians from the ONELGA area of Rivers State.
