That was the mission of the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Owelle ROCHAS OKOROCHA, during a meeting yesterday with the Senate President, BUKOLA SARKI.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that Governor OKOROCHA paid an unscheduled visit to the State President to intervene in what appears to be the brewing of a cold war between the Executive and the Legislature.
Governor OKOROCHA said he embarked on the visitation in his capacity as Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, because of the worrisome developments within the ruling party.
The Imo State Governor lamented that the APC has not been able to manage very well what he described as God-given victory at the 2015 elections.
He said Nigerians expects so much from the APC but endless crises within the ruling party since assumption of office have worked against that expectation.
In his response, the Senate President told the Chairman of APC Governors’ Forum that the APC National Assembly caucus would look into the issues he raised.
Senator SARAKI assured that the Senate would work in synergy with other stakeholders to deliver democracy dividends to Nigerians.
The Senate President admitted that the crises within the APC was surmountable, adding that the doors of National Assembly was open to the leadership of the party.
Other Senators present at the meeting include the Senate Leader, ALI NDUME, as well as DINO MELAYE, RAFIU IBRAHIM, HAMA ISA MISAU and ALIYU SABI-ABDULLAHI.
