Sixty-five aspirants of the All Progressives Congress All Progressives Congress for the Rivers State House of Assembly say they are still awaiting the report of the party’s appeal screening committee ahead of the primaries scheduled for May 20, 2026.
The aspirants, who were initially not cleared by the screening committee, appeared before the appeal panel in Port Harcourt Port Harcourt earlier in the week. Among them was former Andoni Local Government Chairman, Dr. Gogo-Ogute Isaiah, who is contesting for the Andoni State Constituency seat.
Isaiah urged the committee to make its findings public, insisting that transparency would help aspirants prepare for the upcoming primaries. He also maintained that the grounds for his disqualification were unconstitutional, expressing optimism that he would be cleared.
Another aspirant, Obunezi Ozinakachi Clinton, seeking the Ikwerre State Constituency ticket, also questioned his non-clearance, saying he remains hopeful of a favourable outcome as the party process continues.
