Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency has been invited to inspect the activities of the company in the community.
The bone of contention is alleged failure by the company to carry out cooperate social responsibility programmes, which the Igbo-Olukwo indigenes claim is contrary to a Memorandum of Understanding they signed in 2005.
A spokesman for the community, Chief FREDRICK UWAME said their people have been suffering the negative impact of the activities of the company due to neglect.
They also accused the company of failing to conduct environmental impact assessment in the community before commencing operations.
