ACPN Partners Communities to Improve Healthcare, Tackle Fake Medicines in Rivers

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Rivers State Chapter, says it is strengthening collaboration with communities to improve healthcare delivery and combat the circulation of substandard and falsified medicines.

The State Chairman of ACPN, Alabo Nengi Lawson, stated this during the association’s medical outreach in Rumuolumeni Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. He described communities as critical stakeholders in promoting better health outcomes and said the outreach was a continuation of the association’s recent scientific conference in Port Harcourt themed, “Combating the Epidemic of Substandard and Falsified Medicines: A Call for Coalition.”

Lawson commended the leadership of the Rumuolumeni community for supporting the initiative and disclosed that ACPN is working closely with government regulatory agencies to eliminate quackery and fake medicine vendors across the state.

Beneficiaries of the outreach, including the Paramount Ruler of Rumuolumeni Kingdom, King Olumeni Chukwuemeka Victor-Elvis, and the community’s Youth President, Felix Chinda, praised the association for the free medical mission. They also pledged the community’s support in identifying and stopping those involved in the distribution of fake and harmful medicines.
