The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Charles Wobodo, has pledged the council’s continued support for the military in carrying out its activities and programmes within the limits of available resources.

Wobodo stated this while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the 24th anniversary celebration of the Great Men of 52 Regular Intake, 52 RI, at Elele Cantonment in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

The council chairman said the local government and its people would not take the role and contributions of the military at Elele Cantonment for granted.

He assured the military that the council would continue to honour and support its programmes and activities whenever the opportunity arises.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Great Men of 52 Regular Intake, Elele Cantonment, Sergeant Godstime Ehapa, said the event marked the group’s 24th anniversary in military service.

Ehapa expressed appreciation to the Ikwerre Council Chairman and his entourage for honouring their invitation to the celebration.

The former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area and Chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA, Dr Samuel Nwanosike, described the relationship between the military, the host community and Ikwerre Local Government as symbiotic.

Also speaking, former member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, Chidi Wihioka, said completing 24 years in military service was evidence that the celebrants had attained significant experience and maturity in their profession.
