A group of Ogoni women under the platform of Dap Doo Women Association has come out for the first to condemn the recent violence that led to the loss of lives in Gokana and Khana local government areas. The women expressed concern that Ogoni land might be thrown into a similar crisis like what happened in 1994, which led to the murder of some prominent Ogoni sons by those they described as enemies of Ogoni people. The secretary of the group, EWONUBARI DAMGBOR told newsmen that Ogoni women have decided not to fold their hands and watch another round of mischief and killings in the land. Also speaking, the APC candidate for Gokana State Constituency rerun, INNOCENT BARIKOR urged Ogoni people not to over hit the polity through what he described as an unnecessary event.BARIKOR was reacting to a purported plan by some persons to stage what has been dubbed “Black Tuesday” procession in memory of victims of the violence. He said the planned event was sponsored by desperate politicians to divert attention, adding that Ogoni people should rather remain focused on the development in the area.INNOCENT BARIKOR is the APC candidate for Gokana State Constituency rerun in Rivers State.
