A coalition of civil society organisations advocating for credible elections in Nigeria has raised alarm over the governorship election in Kogi State this Saturday. Abuja correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the group claimed that there was a likelihood of induced violence to warrant the deployment of soldiers and operatives of the Department of State Services before the election. The group said it based its findings on inciting statements by some participants in the election. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the Executive Director of the coalition, MIKE FEMI, particularly called on President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to guard against violence in Kogi and Bayelsa states. The group also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to maintain the highest level of neutrality in the conduct of the governorship elections in the two states. MIKE FEMI also said his group is partnering with eight international observer missions to monitor the Kogi election. He urged the foreign observer missions to be on alert in the Kogi State governorship election.
