Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers South-East Senatorial District are hoping that the Court of Appeal will upturn the rulings by the Election Tribunal on the petitions brought by APC candidates for National Assembly elections. To this end, APC supporters in Rivers South-East Senatorial District have been advised to remain steadfast and prepare for re-elections when the appellate court finally rules in favor of the party and its candidates. Former Chief of Staff for Oyigbo Local Government council, INNOCENT AJAELU said lawyers to the APC are of the opinion that the tribunal aired in law in its judgments. INNOCENT AJAELU who is the Chairman of Rivers People’s Congress also said he was confident that the APC would not lose any of its members because of what he described as a political interlude.
It may interest you to note that many APC leaders in Rivers State had temporarily relocated to Abuja since the election petition tribunals for Rivers State began sitting. Most of the petitions so far decided had been in favour of the respondents, the PDP and its candidates who won elections to the National Assembly. Meanwhile; the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal also sitting in Abuja is expected to adopt the final addresses of counsel to all the parties on Thursday this week. After Thursday’s sitting; the tribunal would then fix a date to deliver judgment on the petition brought by the APC and its governorship candidate, DAKUKU PETERSIDE.
