The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has questioned the source of media reports about a purported court order meant to be served on the Nigerian Senate to stop the screening and confirmation of ROTIMI AMAECHI as a minister.
The Rivers APC said its attention had been drawn to a statement being circulated in the media and allegedly attributed to LIVINGSTONE WECHIE for having obtained a court order restraining the Senate from Screening AMAECHI.
State Publicity Secretary of the APC, CHRIS FINEBONE said in a statement that the party has searched at the Federal High Courts across the Country but did not find such proceedings pending before any court in the country.
The APC spokesman emphasized that the Federal High Court is the only court that has jurisdiction to determine any matter in which the Senate is made a party as provided in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He argued that the State High Court has no powers or jurisdiction under the Constitution to determine a matter in which the subject matter relates to the duties or functions of the Senate.
