In Rivers State, the Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor NYESOM WIKE, has submitted the report of its investigations. The panel led by Justice GOERGE OMERIJI was mandated to investigate selected financial dealings, contracts and projects undertaken by the Rivers State Government under the leadership of former governor, ROTIMI AMAECHI.
Justice OMERIJI made the presentation to Governor NYESOM WIKE, with a call to take steps to recover funds allegedly stolen under the past administration.
In his response, Governor NYESOMWIKE promised to act on the recommendations of the panel. Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the Commission received twenty seven memoranda, two hundred and forty-two exhibits and twenty-five witnesses. You will recall that ROTIMI AMAECHI and other officials who served with him had declined to appear before the panel due to allegations of bias, but failed in their efforts to have the court to stop the work of the panel.
